After the joyful discovery of your magical writing here I immediately ordered your book. I am savoring it but by bit. Such lovely prose and pictures. What a delightful discovery indeed!

So beautiful!

It reminded me of the times when I too had a holiday home in the countryside. Good memories. Thank you for this moment.

I know these feelings exactly. The way you can walk through a place at night and miss the squeaky floorboard so as not to wake long grown children; the light switches that magically appear under your fingers; the spit where your last child was born, the stain from when the third child was very ill and it never completely washed out, the roses that were planted and have scrambled up an ugly wall. My home for the past 22 years that is now on the market. I feel positive about our next stage but the letting go is so very hard. Thank you for this post and encouraging all of us to tell our own little stories 💚

Thank you for the story. That's exactly what I felt about some places in my hometown, but couldn't express it with the words. I had to leave that town and missed it. Now, when I'm reading your story, I feel relieved. Those places have become a part of my soul, therefore they are always with me, in my heart. Thank you again.

You've fully captured the soul of this place Laura. Your writing is truly beautiful. I'm reading your book at the moment. One day soon I'll begin to write my own little stories again. Your book is encouraging me to take my stories from inside my head and put them onto a page X

Stony bubbling creek beds, bramble hiding places, high-up tree branches come to mind as places this introvert could first be herself in a noisy intrusive world. Next comes the Red House, the one I miss so much where my children grew up and so many fond memories were made. Now, forest trails, a restaurant or two that always thrill, and our farmers market are those places where my heart is both bonded and lifted. Thanks for your beautiful story.

Precious moments 🖤Thank you, your story resonates with me. I think my heart is a kind of patchwork made of all the places and people I love, and that I left a piece of me, like a tiny stone, in the places I felt home.

Oh, this went straight to my soul!

I feel a strong connection to certain places, especially the woods, hills and silver burns where I live. I've sometimes wished I could be anywhere but the place I was born, yet I think that's more to do with the people than the place. It's funny how these special places wrap roots around our hearts. Now I know how much of a wrench it would be to leave!
