Your exact words (unread) were in my mind to add to comments . . . it seems that Laura's evocative writing took so many of us with her into the early dawn woods, shrouded in mist. Living, as I do on another continent 6,000 miles from my native England, this tiny journey 'home' brings such connection for me; the morning dew dripping off the baby beech leaves mixes with my homesick tears.
Thank you! I felt like I was right there. I became disabled 10 years ago at age 65 and what I miss most is being alone in the woods. You captured the feeling so beautifully it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you again.
This is so beautiful, Laura, you took me there right amongst the trees and cow parsley. This time of year is one of my absolute favourites when there's still the possibility of mist to make everything sparkle and shimmer. And that poem by Mary Oliver is one of my favs. Sending love from Cornwall xxx
Absolutely beautiful it was so breathtaking and calming and when you took a deep breath, I did too. I felt like I was standing next to you. It’s an incredible walk at that time in the morning and I love the part about crawling back in bed afterward it’s like a Midsummer morning dream💕🙏🏼
I know we live on different patches of the planet, but I feel we might be walking sister woodlands early in the morning as our loves sleep on. Gorgeous piece, thank you 🙏🏽🤗💜
I felt moved to tears as I felt the air, the mist, the buttercups and the beech trees with you. I am so lonesome for my native woods, especially in Spring. You brought it all back to me and I so want to move away from Cyprus back to proper woodlands with birdsong and damp. It's a 7 year itch thing! I've done what I can here and I need to move on...but to temperate climes again. You have to live in scorching heat with no rain from May until October and a dry well to appreciate it.
I'm with you, completely. Not the scorching heat of Cyprus, but the barren, arid, brown summers of the New Mexico high desert. Woefully, mine is a far longer 'stay' in a place that was never home, and, like you, I desperately need to move on, while there is still hopefully time to again witness green bounty, birdsong and damp!
Yes, the call of the temperate forests is strong! I was under the impression that Cyprus has a Mediterranean climate but whilst studying for my Permaculture Design Certificate, I discovered that it is actually classed as Hot Semi-Arid like Libya! So we probably experience the same dustbowl each Summer. Hope your move to greener pastures happens soon :)
Oh Laura, I am right there with you.
Mary Oliver's poems are prayers to me.

Such a beautiful image, Merrylyn. I'm so glad it transported you.
Yes, I feel that too.
I’m off to dry my feet too, as I was right there with you.
I'm so glad!

Oh Nina, your comment really touched me. I'm so glad I could take you with me to the woods.
Thank you ❤️
That’s gorgeous. And a friend recently brought us Mary Oliver’s poems as a house gift. I shall peek in later.
Excellent gift! (Excellent friend!)
We’re very lucky. Folk know us so well.
Beautiful, Laura!
Thank you, Clare.
This was gorgeous. What a moment for a Mart Oliver incantation.
Totally spontaneous! It just felt like the thing to do...

Yes, Lucy! The absolute best time of year!
Just beautiful, magical Laura. Transported there in the mist through your writing.
I'm so glad to hear that, thank you Michelle.
Thank you for this beautiful piece. I felt I was there with you. And Mary Oliver is such a goddess. to this kind of place.❤️
Yes! A goddess indeed.
I love this. So many beautiful images. And then to go home to crawl into a warm bed with bits of leaves in your hair ❤️
Yes! The perfect morning...
