I agree with Hilda, ( as the last section of the poll only allowed for one item to be selected) I would also be interested in a variety of things - perhaps more on locations and themes, and there may be readers from the localities who have their thoughts to share.
I agree with the other comments - it was tough to select just one. For me, it would be ideal to hear you read from the book, give a bit of the behind-the-scenes, and then end with a writing prompt. Hopefully that would not be too much work for you. I'd also love a Q&A session or a discussion around how you built your following, enabling you to then put a beautiful book out into the world (for those of us with not many Substack followers yet) -- :)
I love this idea Laura! I’m so enjoying reading Chasing Fog at the moment - it’s perfect for the little windows of me-time I manage to snatch around work and being a mum and I truly appreciate how quickly and thoroughly your writing allows me to sink into those foggy landscapes.
I selected the writing prompt option in one of the polls above but I would equally enjoy an essay on the chapter and more of your beautiful photography - or in fact anything you care to offer!
I love the idea of this book club! I was a huge fan of A Public Space‘s read-alongs and read War + Peace and To the Lighthouse with them. What I loved most was the manageable pace and the ability to dive deeper into sections. In some book clubs, I‘ve felt rushed as I race to finish the book before the discussion. This sounds so much more peaceful and enjoyable. 💗
I would love a chapter a month book club. For me, whereas at one time I read voraciously, my reality now is one of limited concentration and tending to zone out. DK if it’s age or meds or life or some combination thereof, but a chapter a month is manageable and will bring me closer to the material by being able to examine it more closely and engage others in dialogue about it! I think it’s brilliant!
Sounds lovely. I wanted to click more options as I’d like info on the places and writing prompts. Also I have the book but was saving for next month anyway as felt more if a proper autumn read.
I would love this and like all your suggestions. Maybe different each month? Only if you like it yourself of course :-)
Agree with this!
Definitely agree, I wanted an all of the above option! But please do go ahead!!!!

Love this idea, Laura! And I agree with Hilda too, all the suggestions are great so maybe a variety would be fun. 🌿
Agree on a variety of presentation/connection for the last question

Online meeting at the start and at the end would add a dimension too. Thanks
Yes please, Laura! A Chasing Fog book club sounds magic. xx

All of them sounded good as ideas.
Laura, I think your ideas are great for a book club.
And I wish I could join you on 4 October but sadly I can't. Perhaps you could do something online with Sarah Rigby?
Lots of good wishes for the success of your book. I look forward to reading it soon.
